Shopping for Toshiba with ShesConnected

in Uncategorized on 12/14/11

ShesConnected has partnered with Toshiba Canada and provided an opportunity for a group of fabulous bloggers to talk about their honest experience shopping for and testing out either the Toshiba Tablet or Toshiba 3D HDTV!

Personally, I would be a very happy girl to find either of these little beauties under my Christmas tree, but decided to check out the Toshiba Tablet.  Part of my personal mission, to investigate if this product would make the perfect “WOW” gift for my pre-teen daughters to share this Christmas!

I started my search by grabbing my Hubby and dragging him to the nearest Best Buy. This was not a difficult task once I explained to him we were going shopping for all things Toshiba.

It was a decidedly crappy night out, as reflected by this picture snapped through my car window….  uggg enough with the rain already!

Inside the Best Buy folks put a bright pink sticker on my shiny new HD Camileo camera.  I wanted them to know I had walked in with this cute little number and was not trying to walk out with it!  We immediately headed for the tablets!

The Toshiba Thrive Tablet was easy to find, but I did have to ask for assistance before I could start playing. Some evil genius had been there before me and switched the language on every single tablet in the place from English to Arabic!  Not cool people.

At least this gave me a chance to ask the sales person, who I might note was not on commission, a couple of questions and get my bearings!

(Uhh Artsy photo showing the Camileo, the Thrive Tablet and me!)

There are so many tablets to choose from but one thing that was quickly pointed out to me.  The Toshiba Thrive seems to be a little heavier then the other Tablets, possibly making it more durable for the little ones.

TOSH0008

I found the screen easy to use and the apps easy to access.

Some other positives about this tablet:

10.1″ Diagonal Wide-view Display with Toshiba Adaptive Display Technology

This means a wide view LED that is backlit. Perfect size for surfing the net!
NVIDIA® Tegra™ 2 Mobile Processor
Translation: serious graphics and fast, full-featured web browsing with Adobe® Flash™ Support.

A complete web experience, with support for Adobe® Flash™
This new tablet is Adobe® Flash™ compatible, delivering a complete web experience to help you explore, discover and interact.

Resolution+™1 Upconversion Technology
This meant more to my Hubby then me but basically:  It’s their exclusive innovation that upconverts standard-definition video content and instantly improves sharpness and colour, for visuals that look and feel more like HD.

Use it’s Full-size HDMI® Output
Use the built-in HDMI® port to share on a big screen TV !

The only negatives I could come up with was one universal across all tablets, all require their own data package.  Hubby and I have to figure out if we really think this is the right choice for a gift for our girls at this point.

Another positive, did you note the incredible price?

TOSH0005

In short, when considering this tablet for my girls I think it was the perfect weight, a great price point, it was a fun way to explore the web, play videos, games, and easy to personalize  Oh, and did I mention it is all kinds of pretty?

If you are still looking for the perfect gift for someone special on your Christmas list,  and want to make your loved one gives you a big fat WOW then go and check out the Toshiba Thrive Tablet!  It’s a perfect choice!

      Hi Steph,

Your girls would definitely LOVE the Toshiba tablet. It’s cheaper than the other tablets AND it looks ten times sturdier.

My daughter wants one of these so badly. I was so bummed when I realized the coupon we got expired so quickly after the conference. I so would of purchased her one with the coupon.

How fun is this post! Lots of great info in such a fun manner.
