An Electrolux Nimble Vacuum Review from the Suburbs.
You have heard me say it before, I am not a domestic goddess. One of the chores I am truly tired of, vacuuming. The problem. Beige floors, white cat and a black dog. I am vacuuming every single day. Sigh. Tiresome.
So, when I was asked if I was interested in reviewing the Nimble Electrolux Vacuum I figured, well, at this point I must qualify as a vacuuming expert, yes please!
Now just so you have a frame of reference, I do own a very high end vacuum as well as have a central vac (which I do not use because I find it to be a big old pain in the butt).
The Nimble arrived in a great big box and literally snapped together in just a few steps. I plugged this sleek little number in and was ready to go.
The Nimble has two settings Carpet and Bare Floor.
I started out on the carpet and it sucked up every single dog hair in sight. There is something very satisfying about removing black dog hair from beige carpet! The Nimble seemed to have great suction and had no problem with the pet hair.
I then tapped a switch and moved to the kitchen floor. Easy. The Nimble is true to it’s name! Very simple to manoeuvre, all of the turning power, none of the grunting and groaning I usually require when pushing the more traditional heavier vacuums around. The Nimble with it’s “swivel technology” skimmed across carpet and bare floor, around the couches and under the kitchen and coffee tables with ease.
How does it do this? How does it turn so easily? The Electrolux Nimble Vacuum features an innovative design concept and is built on a swivel action steering system. This must be what makes it so easy to move in and out of all those tight places in my house. The cyclonic technology helped to guarantee that during all those twists and turns I never lost suction.
Some things I liked about this product:
The Nimble tag line brags “More Swivel, Less Struggle”. This is absolutely true! The Nimble turns easily in tight spaces, or let’s say between shoes you just don’t have the energy to pick up.
The Nimble has a quick release wand and hose that is 14 feet long! For me this means the cobwebs by that front hall chandelier no longer stands a chance. With that other vacuum…my hose just didn’t reach, I had to hold up the body of the vacuum, balance, and hope like crazy that I didn’t lose my balance on the stairs as I sucked up the scary webs and dust. The Nimble truly made this icky chore a breeze!
The wand also has the coolest stair attachment I have ever seen! It opens up like a claw and grabs those stairs..dog hair didn’t stand a chance!
The Nimble has LED headlights to help reveals dust and dirt in those hard-to-see places!
I also appreciated that the system boasts a washable filter. No running to the store when you run out of filters! The filter is a sealed HEPA filtration system and captures 99.97% of dirt, dust, and allergens. I’m cleaning and filtering? Better for the environment. Fabulous.
It wasn’t long before I handed the Nimble off to Hero Hubby, truth be told he does even more vacuuming then I do. Not because he wants to, but because I ummm encourage him too. 🙂 His thoughts “Love that it’s quieter then our current vacuum, corners well and the stair gadget is ingenious if not a bit tricky to figure out at first.”
True, the claw might be a learned skill.
In summary if you are looking for a fairly light, easy to manipulate vacuum that deals well with everyday foot traffic and has some innovative features to make your life just a little bit easier, the Nimble is worth a peek!
The Electrolux Nimble is available at Sears, Canadian Tire and other independent retailers, or online at Electrolux.ca.
Approximate retail value: $329.99
Disclosure: I did receive a Nimble as compensation for my review, this in no way affected the opinions expressed in this post. All opinions are my own. Some pictures courtesy of Electrolux.ca

I gotta get me one of these! My vacuum weighs a thousand pounds, it seems, and is difficult to maneuver. And so loud it seems like a jet plane is landing in my living room!

This sounds interesting. I love the headlight feature, neat idea. The claw looks cool, too, but we don’t have carpet in our home so it wouldn’t be a selling feature. The washable hepa filter, on the other hand…
